People always come into your life for a reason, a season and a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, or to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or even spiritually. They may seem like a godsend to you, and they are. They are there for a reason, you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die, Sometimes they just walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilleed; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.
When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season. And like Spring turns to Summer and Summer to Fall, the season eventually ends.
LIFETIME, relationships teach you a lifetime of lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway);, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas in your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. Thank you for being part of my life.....
I noticed you have "A reason A season and A lifetime" on your website. My husband wrote this and is currently applying for a copyright for the piece. Would you mind adding his name as the author? His name is Brian A. "Drew" Chalker. I noticed that you do not have the original version. At the end of this email, Ive added the original version and would appreciate very much if you would change your page to reflect it.
Thanks in advance,
Drew and Lori Chalker

Reason, Season, or Lifetime
What are you??? Are you a Reason a Season or a Lifetime?
Pay attention to what you read. After you read this, you will know the reason it was sent to you! People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON. . . It is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong
doing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.
Then people come into your life for a SEASON. Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind
but friendship is clairvoyant.
THANK YOU for being a part of my life.

I am shocked to see that someone else is attempting to claim the
rights to something that I wrote back in 2004. I remember exactly the
time, the place, and what was going through my mind in that very
moment I wrote it. It was originally supposed to be a song, and the
title was the first thing I came up with. I was going through a very
difficult time in my life, and writing brings me much comfort. It's a
theraputic process for me. Since it was very personal to me, I only
decided, reluctantly, to share it with a couple of friends, via email.
Now it is all over the internet. While I'm greatly pleased to see that
it has had such an impact on others - that my personal feelings and
thoughts could bring comfort to others, I am frustrated at the same
time that someone else is claiming to have written it, and I'm not
sure how to proceed with this. I don't mean to come across harshly,
however, I am wondering how someone could morally think it's right to
claim something that isn't their's. I'd be happy to share my feelings
and thoughts behind what promted my writing this piece and I
apologize, in advance for sounding rude, but I am frustrated.

I would like for Brian A Drew Chalker to step up with documentation on
this. I personally know the individual that wrote this and will go to
the extremes to see that she gets the credit and the Copywrite that

For those who really want to know the truth. This is the first time I
tell this and the last time I will ever speak of it, so the vultures
can have their fun. I wrote this for a friend in 1995, a girl that I
loved dearly from afar. We were friends but never any more, we were
like cake and ice cream but her understanding of love and mine were
different and she met someone she thought she was in love with, got
married and moved away. We use to chat on AOL and when she moved we
would leave notes for each other on a bulletin board. The man she
married didn’t like it and made her stop writing to me. But I knew
that even if she couldn’t write she may still read. So I wrote this
for her and disguised it as an open post but I signed it with my last
name so only she would know it was for her. Because only she knew
that, he didn’t. She never replied and I never heard from her
again. I found out years later from running into a friend of her
mothers, that she had died giving birth two her second child. You
cant imagine the devastation I felt to hear that, and how I wish that
I never had. Although I cannot take complete credit for this peace
because it was inspired by a preacher of my church of my youth. His
name was Rev. Bill Jeffcoat. He was a hansom man that kept the
congregation filled because the women thought he was so attractive. I
grew up in a small Baptist community and everyone went to church.
Anyway, Rev. Bill would at times told this sermon about how god sends
people into our lives for a reason, to fulfill a need or to guide us
in some way, and the way we can tell they were a god send is that they
would just appear in our life fulfill a need and that they were gone.
He said we all have them show up in our lives in one season or
another, it could be the spring of our youth, the summer of our
adulthood, the fall of our retirement, or the winters of the end of
our lives. And sometimes they have an impact or a lesson for us that
last a lifetime. So you see it was not all me, I took his words and
made them my own. But of course these were not his either they belong
to one of the apostles; I just don’t know which one. And that the
story I have never told a living soul, until now. It turned out to be
my eulogy to a lost love that circled the globe and has never stopped.
No copyright could ever match that. So you liars can have it, it
will come back to you. In the form of Karma if it hasn’t already.

I don’t know who wrote the poem Reason, Season, Lifetime. But I know
it was around in 1986. My mother-in-law received the poem on a plaque
from a nurse in the ICU. My father-in-law had just passed away, after
surviving triple by-pass surgery only then to get a staff infection.
The nurse had been one of the many wonderful people that helped us
during that difficult time in our lives. The reason the nurse said she
had given my mother-in-law the plaque was because of how wonderful
our whole family was and how we HELPED her get back to the Lord. So I
don’t know who wrote it or how long ago it was written. But I do
know the plaque was sold in a Christian book Author Unknown at the
bottom back in 1986.

Hey, it is a crying shame when someone else cries FOUL on a piece of
work that has long since been in existence for sometime now. Maybe
even before that there was a Internet. So, let me tell it to you like
this - though I retain copyright documentation - and am willing to
show it - I would much rather that it is spread throughout the
Internet (albeit anonymously) and that way, it will reach the world...

I read this poem (original)sometime after the summer of 1988. The
reason I know this is that I was going through a very difficult
divorce and someone had brought this poem to my attention. I never had
the opportunity to copy the words down but through the many
challenging years carried the meaning of it with me. I recently told
my adult daughter about it to help her through her own crisis. It
still holds the same meaning and I thank whoever gave so many hope
when it seemed there was none.

I am in complete agreement w/Atthough above. This poem imo, is a
narcissistic diatribe about "ME, ME, ME". I wish ppl would read beyond
the sentiment and new age-y b.s. this poem is founded upon. Am I
cynical? Perhaps, but the naivete' seeping throughout this flimsy
piece is astonishing. To think that ppl have reduced love and
friendship through the narrow, self centered POV of the author, tells
me most folks 'out there' aren't thinking originally, nor deeply.

Actually,it is nearsighted to say the poem is about "me". It is about
GOD and what he is doing in my life with the people he brings into my
life. It is about the things I can't control but GOD does control.
It is about letting GOD be GOD with the people in my life and letting
Him move people in and out of my life in the ways He chooses. The
people above are too busy judging the trees to notice the forest.

Feel blessed you can identify with the meaning.
Thank yourself first
as the one that was gifted with the ability to communicate it learned
it from observation of his/her experiences. To this humanity is
responsible. Each and every last soul. Vanity should not hold a
place in the gift these words bring to the saddened souls it
touches. Namaste'

Please delete my name Brian "Drew" Chalker from this. This was
something cruel my "ex" posted all over the internet. Evertytime I
find something referencing my name, I ask that it be removed. It was
written by Iyanla Vanzant then summarized into an email that was never
supposed to go viral. I thank you for your cooperation in removing my
name from this webpage.

I've read all the comments, and there's three that specifically credit
Iyanla Vanzant with this piece of writing and even give the
publication and date. It seems many who comment haven't actually read
any of the other comments and are just jumping in with their version
of the truth, which takes away from the credibility of their claims.
I'm just trying to find out who wrote it, and if you critically read
the comments, it seems to me Iyanla Vanzant did. Thank-you, Iyanla.
